Dr. Sahin has dedicated his career to investigating the cellular mechanisms underlying childhood neurogenetic disorders and to caring for patients with neurological conditions associated with breakdowns in these processes. He has predominantly focused on Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC), a genetic disorder that presents often with epilepsy and autism. He is also involved in clinical and pre-clinical work through the Translational Neuroscience Center (TNC) at Boston Children’s Hospital. His overarching mission is to translate insights from the study of brain development to improvements in patient care through early detection, treatment and prevention of problems associated with TSC and related neurological diseases.
